REOPENING OF THE QUEBEC IMMIGRANT INVESTOR PROGRAM

Further to the meeting the MICC had with the financial intermediaries on March 12, 2014, it has been confirmed that the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) will reopen but will not reopen on the anticipated date of April 1, 2014 but it will be delayed.

The details of the reopening have not yet been confirmed but it is expected that the investment amount and the net worth threshold will remain the same. In addition the same procedure of last year is expected - random draw and quotas.

The Quebec government will most likely make an official announcement in the Quebec Gazette on March 26, 2014. As soon as the details are officially announced we will inform you.

CANDIDATES WITH AN INTERMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF FRENCH

It is important to take note that Candidates with knowledge of  French can continue to submit their QIIP Application after March 31, 2014.

REJECTED APPLICATIONS

We have noticed an increase of applications being rejected due to incomplete files, bank statements that are not translated or partially translated and/or not translated by a recognized translator and not providing the narrative document in the applicant's native language.  We urge you to pay close attention to the above and provide all the documents in the checklist, with the certified translation as the MICC can reject the application solely on the above grounds not being respected in accordance to subsection 3.2.1 of the Act respecting immigration to Québec.

IRANIAN CANDIDATES

Iranian candidates who are accepted on file or after an interview will not receive the Notice of intent to issue a Québec Selection Certificate (CSQ), until the candidate receives the permit from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) that authorize specified activities or transactions that are otherwise prohibited under the sanctions. Therefore, the candidate will have 110 days to complete his/hers investment from the date he/she receives the permit from DFAIT and not the letter from the MICC. It is imperative that the candidate forwards the permit within 60 days from its issuance to the MICC.

BIQ HONG KONG OFFICE

The BIQ Hong Kong will relocate to Quarry Bay in June. Interviews and some of the communication will stop temporary during the move.
