GOVERNMENT TO ELIMINATE INVESTOR AND ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAMS
Government to eliminate backlog-ridden and inefficient Investor and Entrepreneur Programs

Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander today welcomed measures in Economic Action Plan (EAP) 2014 to build a faster, more flexible immigration system that makes real contributions to Canada's long-term prosperity.

EAP 2014 announced the government's intent to terminate the federal Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) and Federal Entrepreneur (EN) Program, eliminate a large and longstanding backlog of applications, and pave the way for new pilot programs that will actually meet Canada's labour market and economic needs.

REINFORCING THE VALUE OF CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP
Reinforcing the value of Canadian citizenship while continuing to move toward a faster and more efficient system

In early February, the Government has introduced, Bill C-24, the Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act, as a part of the amendments to the Citizenship Act, the Government of Canada is proposing a number of changes to make the citizenship program more efficient so that qualified applicants can obtain citizenship more quickly.

THE FUTURE OF QUEBEC'S IMMIGRANT INVESTOR PROGRAM
We have received confirmation from the MICC yesterday that the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program and the Quebec Entrepreneur Program will not be affected by the Federal government's decision to close the Federal Immigrant Investor Program. In addition, Immigration and Citizenship Canada affirmed that the Ministère will be consulted on the Regulations modifications to assure Quebec's competence in this respect will be respected. The Federal announcement has no impact on the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program.

We would like to remind you that under the current regulations, it is still possible to submit an application under the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program if the applicant has sufficient knowledge of the French language.
