Quebec applications for selection certificates has been capped
For three years, the MICC has received numerous applications for selection certificates. In the sub-category of the economic immigration (skilled workers and businesses people), the annual number of files received went from as little as 30,000 in 2008 to 65,000 in 2011. The situation is such, that in certain cases, the review of an application will only begin after three years of its reception. |

Modifications to IIP regulation
It is now official! After months of rumors, immigrant investors will have to invest $800,000 and show personal net worth of $1,600,000 under the new regulation which was pre-published Saturday June 26th, 2010. The Government of Quebec will modify its own program in the following weeks. We expect the new regulation to come into effect in October 2010.
While CIC has called for a moratorium on the Federal Immigrant investor program with effect immediately, the MICC will continue to receive applications under the current regulation providing files are complete and meet the BIQ's requirement for file opening. If not, these files will be returned.
Industrial Alliance is committed to provide legal assistance to ensure files are to be delivered to the MICC in time while meeting its quality requirements.
Please contact your IA representative for assistance.
